‘If You Found a Company, You Get All the Freedom You Want’

If you want to start a business, you need courage and a passion for the subject, says Katrin Feuerstein, who founded the social media consultancy with two friends. But in return, you also get the freedom and flexibility to organize your working life in a way that it fits in perfectly with your private life.

Werksgelände: What do you actually do as the founder and managing director of folgerichtig?

Katrin Feuerstein: As founder and managing director, I have many different tasks. Firstly, I am responsible for distribution. This means that I make our offers and our company more visible – for example via content on social media or email marketing. To do this, I work closely with our team, make decisions and think about how we can best organize ourselves. There are also many tasks in the area of management, for example: Further development of the company, product development, administrative tasks and more.

What experience or talents should you have for the job?

If you want to set up a company, you need courage and a desire for the subject. There are many things you must familiarize yourself with – and of course there is no one to motivate you to keep at it. So, you must be very self-driven. But you also get all the freedom you could wish for.

What are the biggest challenges in your job?

The biggest challenge is to lead a team. Many personalities, opinions and attitudes come together in a company and it is important to obtain harmony so that everyone feels comfortable and can do a good job.

What has been your biggest flop on the job so far, and what have you learned from it?

There have always been situations that have frustrated or stressed us – for example, because a launch of our product didn’t work out the way we wanted it to. It is then important not to give up and instead learn from the situation and try again.
