Sustainability Through Plant Power

Biomass is the key to a more sustainable future. At Forschungszentrum Jülich, scientists like Judith Reinwarth are working on replacing fossil raw materials with plant-based alternatives.

Biotechnologist Judith Reinwarth is a doctoral student at the Institute of Plant Science. Here she researches biomass. Biomass, for example from agriculture or the timber industry or from biological industrial waste, is a renewable and therefore sustainable alternative to fossil raw materials. Reinwarth’s research therefore opens up new possibilities for future sustainable and environmentally friendly products, for example to replace petroleum-based plastics.
