Volunteering with the rescue dog team

If you are interested in volunteering with the rescue dog team, you need to be at least 18 years old and physically fit.

In general, medium-sized dog breeds with moderate body weight are suitable as rescue dogs. However, any dog has the potential to become a rescue dog. The dog needs to be healthy and physically fit so they can work under demanding conditions.

In order for you and your dog to become part of a rescue dog team, two years of training is required. Information on joining the team and the training involved is available from the German Red Cross Red Cross and the Malteser Hilfsdienst or the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund.
